Jacques Janse van Rensburg Senior Pastor
EDUCATION: His education in ministry began in 1991. He eared a Diploma in Theology between 1993. Later, he pursued an Honors degree in Practical Theology at the University of Johannesburg and continues to invest in growth through the Pastors Continuous Development program.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Jacques’ work experience in ministry spans more than three decades. He began testifying to his classmates about Jesus at the age of ten, and by his teenage years was already leading youth at his local congregation. From a youth leader in Pretoria , where the group grew from 20 to 400, to a youth pastor in Hercules, to his first senior pastoral role at AFM Hercules, Jacques’ calling and leadership kept deepening. In 2010, he accepted the call to lead AFM Richards Bay. What was then a church struggling with debt and decline was, by God’s grace, transformed into the largest and most active congregation in the area. Together with Lizelle, he pioneered a strategy they call Event-Based Evangelism, creating community-centered gatherings that introduced thousands of people to the Gospel. Over seventeen years, he baptized more than 735 people, built strong men’s, women’s, and children’s ministries, and raised up young leaders through internships and mentoring .
HOBBIES: Beyond ministry, Jacques enjoys a full life. His hobbies include woodworking and cycling, activities that allow him to express creativity and find renewal outside of pastoral duties.
FAVORITE CHRISTIAN RECORDING ARTISTS: His love for music spans both the Christian and secular worlds. Among his favorite Christian artists are Elevation Worship, Brandon Lake, Bethel, Jesus Culture, and Lauren Daigle.
FAVORITE SECULAR RECORDING ARTISTS: He enjoys listening to legends like Phil Collins, Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, and Elton John .
ABOUT MINISTRY: At the heart of Jacques’ story is his ministry. From the moment he first responded to an altar call as a ten-year-old boy, through seasons of growth, hardship, and breakthrough, his life has been marked by dependence on the Holy Spirit. Teaching is Jacques’ calling, and through the Word and the anointing of the Holy Spirit, many experience life-changing transformation.
FAMILY: Jacques Janse van Rensburg was born on November 21, 1971 in South Africa. He is married to Lizelle, his wife since 2001, and together they have raised three daughters—twin girls Alike and Ilke, now 21 years old, and their youngest, Inneke, who is 20. Family life has always been at the center of Jacques’ journey, not only as a pastor but also as a husband and father who has seen God’s hand of healing and provision in his home many times .
